Dear Colleagues,

53rd Annual Canadian Mineral Processors’ Conference

The Canadian Mineral Processors Society (CMP) of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) is continuing the tradition of funding an education initiative to assist undergraduate university and technical college students in attending our 53rd Annual CMP Operators Conference.

With the global changes that COVID-19 has brought upon industry we cannot, in good conscience, hold our in-person conference in Ottawa during the 3rd week of January 2021.  We also felt that we needed to take advantage of the technologies we have all become familiar with over the last year to spend time together in our community of mineral processors. As previously announced, we will be moving forward with a Virtual Meeting in early 2021 which will include technical presentations, operations virtual tours, panel discussions, and master classes.

With the shift to the virtual platform for this year, the sponsorship funds will still support the student program, however, due to it being a virtual event, the student program will change. The students will cover their own nominal registration fee of $15. The sponsorship funds will cover the cost of each student receiving the soon-to-be-released Canadian Milling Practice 2020 book. Additionally, the CMP will be giving $3,000 scholarships to the students, the number of scholarships being determined by the sponsorship funds we receive.

This year’s sponsorship amount is $1,000. The success of the conference as well as the student programs is only achievable because of the continuing support of our sponsors.

This year, instead of sending in a cheque, you can provide sponsorship electronically via the event registration site when registering for the conference. The sponsorship quantity can be selected as part of the event registration. If you prefer, payment for sponsorship can also be accepted by cheque. Sponsors will have their logo displayed during the virtual event, therefore please provide a high-resolution image of your company logo. Should you have any questions or require further information I can be reached at the coordinates below.

Registration is currently open at:

Thank you for your interest and support of this essential program. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Irma Gabric, Stefanie Vo and myself using this link.

Yours truly,
